Project Life: 51 down, 1 MORE TO GO!!!

As I look back on 2010, I am so super excited that I stuck with project life. It is so fun to look back at all of the fun adventures we’ve had as a family this year. All of my scrapbooks (and I have a TON) up to 2010 are filled with milestones, birthdays, Christmas, vacations, etc. But I love that this book is filled with everyday life. Everyone laughs at me when they come to the picture of my washer and dryer or my cup of coffee, but I get excited when I think how fun it will be to look back in 10, 20, 30 years and remember ordinary, day-to-day stuff. I try to think back just 15 or 20 years ago when we were first married and of course I remember the big events, but so many little things are forgotten. I would absolutely love to have an album like this from my senior year in high school, my first year of marriage, or each of my kids’ first years of life. There were times when this project was a little challenging, and I had to play “catch-up” on Sunday afternoons, but it was all so worth it! As I mentioned before, I am not doing the picture of the day for 2011, but I am going to take pictures each month and put them in the new Amber Edition Project Life Album. One benefit of doing the POTD (picture of the day) is that is really trains you to look for unique things to photograph. For inspiration on lots of fun things like photography ideas, decorating, organization, etc., visit Becky Higgins Blog (she is the creator of project life). Project Life: Weeks 26-46 & Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes, you read that title correctly . . . that is 21 weeks of project life that I have failed (miserably) at posting. I have actually done a pretty good job keeping up with the project, I just haven’t had time to post. Thanksgiving is really a great day to look back on this little “glimpse” of our life with a picture-a-day and see just how blessed we are. We have had a wonderful year with family, friends, travels, and other fun adventures. I’m not sure if I’m ambitious enough to take on this project next year, but I am so glad that I stuck with it! Next year I plan to purchase Becky Higgins’ new “Amber” kit , use the same layout, but arrange it by month so that I don’t have to take a picture every day. I love the kit, because you just drop in the picture, then journal on the card, drop it in, and “ta-da” a beautiful, easy scrapbook page. I’m all about fast & easy these days

I hope you all have a wonderful day. I want to thank each and every one of my clients for trusting me to capture the most important year in you life (seniors), the most important day of your life (brides & grooms) and the most important people in your life (families). Sometimes I still pinch myself when I think about how my business has grown over the past 3 years. And I owe it all to you! Ok, I give up! Just plan on seeing project life every 6-8 weeks. I just can’t seem to get my act together and get these posted. I’ve had tons of mini-sessions and some regular ones and I haven’t posted a single picture. I guess that is the nature of summer, right? Or least I will use that as my excuse )

Project Life: Week 12-18

Oh my goodness!!! Has it seriously been 7 weeks since I have posted project life layouts? I am so LAME! I am going to try much harder to post every Tuesday. I have been doing a pretty good job of keeping up with it, for some reason I just have a hard time taking the pictures of my layouts and getting them on my blog. The last few weeks have been filled with road trips, lots of fundraising for our mission trip in June, friends, family, and yard work! LOTS of yard work! I hope you are all having a fabulous spring!

Don’t they say after 28 days of doing something, it will be a new habit and you will stick with it? Well, so far I have stuck with my picture of the day, my daily bible reading, and going to the gym. So it should be a piece of cake from here on out, right? If only it was that easy. Have a great weekend everybody!

Project Life – Week 1 1/2

Wow, I have been such a bad blogger over the last couple of months! I have a hard time, when I’m not super busy with client sessions, to figure out what to write about. Since I mentioned Project Life in my last post, I thought I would show you the project so far. I have to say, it has been really fun taking a picture a day. I also have to admit, it is going to get REALLY hard to come up with ideas down the road. Thank goodness we are busy and have a lot of things planned this year, so that will help! I’m usually not great at journaling (can you see a trend, here?) but so far it has been easy to think of things to write. As I’m putting this album together, I’m thinking about my grandchildren looking at it (many, many, many years from now) and being able to peek into life in 2010, so that has guided me in my picture taking & journaling. I will try to post my layouts everyweek, just for fun, but I’m not making any promises ;o) This time of year it is easy to find the time, I just hope I will keep it a top priority when life gets out of control busy. The reason I started on Dec 30th (in case you were wondering), is because I want my full page spreads to include Sunday – Saturday, so in order to do that, I started on Wednesday, December 30th. The page on the left of this is going to have a picture of each member of our family and then in the journaling slots, I am going to do a little bit about us . . . age, hobbies, favorites, etc. – not finished with that yet.
